For the flashback on this page and the last page, it's chronological. In the flashbacks that you've seen with Colbey and Peter before The End, she wasn't the same person that you've seen in the comic.

Things happened, and Colbey had to change to survive.

I'm guessing that right now, Alex is reminding her a lot of what she was like before her world fell apart.
