My headcannon is that Colbs is deciding who to kill (or not kill) next. She's got quite the list!
Arbalest is the story of a consistently reincarnating creature named (at least, in this reincarnation) Haelu. Everyone wants her dead, but she doesn't know why. She just knows she's different, and that this time, she wants the ending to change.
Please go read Arbalest! Like many of the comics featured during my absence, it's at the perfect spot for a quick binge read to catch up! Thank you, Mitsu!
What it Takes returns MONDAY, 11/21 for two weeks of MWF updates! See you then!
Today's piece of guest art comes from Rommie of Soul to Call!
If you are a fan of this comic and haven't already added Soul to Call to your reading list, what are you waiting for? Avril and Colbs are obviously best buds, which means our readers should be too!
Soul to Call follows the story of Avril as she sneaks into an occult-infested hallucinogenic fog zone in a dark magic post apocalyptic wasteland. Chased by cultists who want to sacrifice her, she stumbles into the Anathema Eli, a lil cinnamon roll who just needs a hug while he looks into the deepest recesses of your soul. But they wouldn't survive long without James O'Brian, mercenary for hire with a heart of gold some soft, malleable yet strong-and-good-looking metal. Will Avril find her father before she and her friends die horrible, horrible deaths?
But, I would like to get to making comics again :D
Today's guest art comes from Kryspix of Soul Bound!
It features her character Mara doing some sweet martial arts moves of her own!
Similar to some other folks who have graciously offered up guest art, Soul Bound is at that sweet spot for a quick and fun archive binge. This is Kryspix's second comic, and with many years' experience of webcomics under her belt, she hit the ground running! From a well-meaning princess torn out of a story (and thrown off a balcony), to a goblin prince, the bastard son of a war-crazed king, this comic already has a ton going for it. Go check it out!
Colbey is kicking ass major butt with Joe's character Artie! Together, with their powers combined, they are Captain Planet! Oh wait. Wrong story. No green mullets. (I'm a 90's kid, okay?)
Golden Sky Hero is the tale of Artie, a young Wolkhar boy who recently came of age in his village. He made himself a suit of armor, and strode into a scary labyrinth of caves to find himself a gem left for him by his father. When he returns, his fellow villagers have vanished! Confused and afraid, Artie must learn the fate of those he cares about, all the while discovering the powers in the gem he found! Ten year old boys have never been so fly.
Please go check out Joe's comic!
Cabal is a dhampir: half human, half vampire, born of a vampire mother and human father shortly before the nukes fell. As his mother slowly loses her sanity, Cabal must learn to survive on his own, to find blood meals in between regular food, and come to terms with a growing conscience in an often-merciless post apocalyptic wasteland. He wins some, loses some, gains friends, family, and especially, enemies. Rated MATURE! Fans of What it Takes will dig it.
Thank you, Darwin!
This is page 3 of 3 of a short little story about Peter and Colbey going to a wedding/arriving late/deciding what to do next--by k8a of Careful Going!
Careful Going is a relatively new comic (translation: perfect time for a sweet archive binge) that so far is about crewmates on a ship that rescue children stolen/sold into slavery. On a recent rescue, long lost siblings reconnect--but they don't all recognize each other. The drama begins! Hint: knife stabbery.
k8a offered to conspire with me during my leave of absence. I wrote a rough script, and k8a polished it up and drew it! Since the theme of my absence is "Kez ditched y'all to get married and have some fun," this short little story is about how Peter and Colbey went to a wedding! Or didn't go. The best kind of wedding, imo! Yes, I did just say that. It was cool to be the bride in a costume and all, but man am I glad it's over!
Catch you MONDAY with more guest art!
But enough about me! This is page 2 of 3 of a short little story about Peter and Colbey going to a wedding/arriving late/deciding what to do next--by k8a of Careful Going!

Thanks K8a! Come back tomorrow (SATURDAY!) for the final page! Mahalo and thanks for reading!

Thanks K8a! Come back tomorrow for page 2! It's awesome.
Today's piece comes from Mr. Average over at
Six Commando!
I'm not sure which scares me more: the outcome of the election, or the thought of Colbey driving a tank! She'd certainly make a great time of it though! :D
6 Commando is the story of an alternate earth where the cold war didn't end, but instead went hot in the 1990's--thanks to the efforts of AI superweapon tank named "Mike." When trying to rescue Major Sarah Bronniford in a kind of DMZ, Mike crosses borders and ignites a nuclear war. If you like What it Takes, you will like 6 Commando. Please go check it out!
Guys, October 20 is in my sidebar over there on the left under recommended reads for a damn good reason. Imagine being hunted by a mythological creature, and knowing the day and time of when the attack would occur. One day, every year, it comes for you, until you are dead. What would you do to prepare? What would you you sacrifice to survive? It's a fantastic story. Read it!
Thanks Hjels!
THANK YOU MONICA! Monica draws adorable chibis (a skill I cannot fathom), and in addition, draws her own heroine-who-slays-things-regularly for her OWN comic, MoonSlayer! SLAYER IS IN THE TITLE. Get on over there! If you like this comic, you'll probably like Moonslayer! CLICK THE LINK BELOW
Come back tomorrow for more amazing guest art, and PLEASE check out the comics of the artists who have made me art during my honeymoon! THEY DESERVE IT.
Also, I'm off to Hawaii, so you should go read their comic instead of mine. :D
Comic of the week will continue when I return. (you get comic of the day instead!)
This is the final update for the comic story until November 21st! Come back starting on Monday for guest art while I'm away! We're loaded up at LEAST monday through friday now. If there's more, it's going up over the weekend :D Thank you in advance to all of my friends who've made stuff to cover for my absence!
Comics of the week are Castoff and Sons of the Forgotten!
Castoff: After getting kidnapped and dragged halfway across the world, scaredy-cat Vector finds himself a long, long way from home. Now, with the help of a short tempered bounty hunter, a happy-go-lucky cartographer, and many more unlikely friends, he has to try and make it home in one piece. Guys, this comic is adorable and wonderful, and this is the best page ever.
Next in the line up of fun fantasy is
Sons of the Forgotten! This is a pretty new comic, so it's the perfect time to jump on in there. Follow the adorable af baby Erric as he discovers a treasure in his father's attic, destined to turn him into a great adventurer! Or so we hope :D
