Did you miss monday's update? Don't forget this comic updates MWF for all of April!
When I was coming up with A SIT-E in APPLEYS, I knew I needed it to have a rival. The City needed a place that was basically a dreary version of that pristine dream the City represented in the eyes of survivors. So I created Arthur, who did the best he could with what he had.
Colbey will paint Arthur as an evil brute from here on out, but that detached part of me wonders if his choices weren't so much WRONG as...unethical.
It's always easy for first world nations to sit back on their easy chairs, munch on a bad of cheetos, and condemn other countries for their brutality or lack of altruism. But sometimes I wonder, if there were less to go around here in the States, or in Europe, or Australia, would we do any different? Has humanity progressed to the point where even in the face of hunger, pain, fear, or loss we can still hold that torch of morality high? "I will not steal from my neighbor though we are both starving?" "I will not take from the weakest to survive myself?" "I will protect those less able than myself because that is good/right/just?" Or are we all the same animals we were a hundred years ago, a thousand, two thousand, just dressed in nicer clothes?
Sometimes I depress myself. Now where'd I put that chocolate?
The SpiderForest comic of the week is Dream*scar!
So this is my first time featuring a comic that's usually in the top 15, if not top 10, of TWC...if that tells you how awesome this comic is.
Dream*scar takes place in an alternate reality earth where all the monsters and fairy tales are not only real, they've also publicly revealed themselves and have formed a type of civil rights movement. Vix just found out that she herself is one of these "unhumans," and she's on the run from the cops for somehow maybe accidentally killing a bunch of her classmates, hiding in Unhuman central. This is page that hooked me personally. It's funny, it's dark, and it's awesome read. Check it out!
Also, upstate NY locals, I will be attending UBcon in 2 weeks, April 13-15 in Buffalo, NY! Come on by and buy my stuff--I mean, say hi ;)
Thanks for reading!
